Warm-up: Introducing the topic and defining our terms
- Today, we are going to learn about some wild animals who live in Edmonton (and in Canada’s prairie provinces).
- What is an animal?
- What are wild animals (or wildlife)?
- Can you give me any examples of wild animals that live in Edmonton?
Learn the names of the animals
- Identify the wild animal fliptiles*
- Edmonton’s wild animals tiptiles* (Click on the images to display photos and videos of wild animals.)
- Listen to the names of these animals again* 🔊 (Ask students to pay attention to the pronunciation of these names. Notice the difference between the singular and plural forms. Ask students to think about what these animals look like.)
