Warm-up: Introducing the topic and defining our terms
- Today, we’re going to discuss some regions in Alberta.
- What is a region?
- How is a region different from a province?
- Can you name some regions in Alberta?
Skill-building activities
- Mapfling regions* (Click on the letters to learn each region’s name and location.)
- Vocabulary flashcards* (Learn about each region’s geography or resources.)
- Let’s listen to the vocabulary again* (Ask students to pay attention to the pronunciation and meaning of the words. You can also ask the students to share the meanings verbally.)
Skill-using tasks
- Pair matching* (Match the region with its geography or resources.)
- Region quiz* (Identify each region by its geography or resources.)
- Label the regions* (Find the regions on a map.)
- Identify the regions* (Fill in the blanks with the region names.)
- Audio and text match* 🔊 (Listen to the audio and match it with its name.)
