This lesson plan will teach your beginner ESL students the vocabulary they need to buy clothes in a clothing store. The lesson includes warm-up questions, vocabulary practice, and skill-building activities such as video and open-ended role-plays. Students also reflect on their own in-person and online shopping experiences in Canada.

Week of Dec. 1/25

Teach your beginner ESL students basic recipe vocabulary, using the example of Christmas shortbread.

This lesson plan offers warm-up activities (including a short video), and skill-building and assessment tasks.

Students will learn some cooking verbs and ingredients, follow recipe instructions, and learn about the mix of measurements used in Canada.

Finally, students will be able to share festive recipes from their own cultures.

Week of Nov. 24 /25

This time of year, many of your students will be heading back to their home countries or to other destinations. Equip them with the essential vocabulary for going through airport Customs. Designed for CLB Stage I learners, this lesson plan includes vocabulary development, a short video, and several practice role plays to help students understand the questions they may encounter during Customs inspections.
